Biography

Luciano Supervielle Sbruzzi (born October 30, 1976, in Paris, France) is a French-born Uruguayan musician, composer, producer, and DJ known for his pioneering work in neotango and electronic fusion. Great-grandnephew of Franco-Uruguayan poet Jules Supervielle, he arrived in Montevideo at age eight and developed his career synthesizing tango, electronic music, hip-hop, and classical traditions. A founding keyboardist and composer with the neotango collective Bajofondo (formed early 2000s with Gustavo Santaolalla and Juan Campodónico), Supervielle has maintained a parallel solo career spanning three decades. His early work with hip-hop band Plátano Macho (1990s–2000) and collaborations with Jorge Drexler (1999–2004) established his reputation for integrating electronic programming and keyboards into diverse musical contexts. Solo releases include Supervielle (2004), Rêverie (2011), Suite para piano y pulso velado (2016, Graffiti Award winner), Montevideano (2024, with Orquesta Filarmónica de Montevideo), and the film score Agarrame fuerte (2024). With Bajofondo, he contributed to landmark albums including Bajofondo Tango Club (2002, Latin Grammy winner), Mar Dulce (2007), Presente (2013), and Aura (2019).
