Biography
Javier Di Ciriaco is an Argentine singer-songwriter, tango vocalist, and former rock musician born October 12, 1973, in Córdoba, Argentina. He initially founded the rock band Sentencia as a teenager, serving as lead singer, guitarist, and composer. In his early twenties, he discovered tango and left rock music to pursue the genre, performing with the Orquesta Típica de Jorge Arduh and in theatrical productions that toured Europe and Asia.
In 2006, Di Ciriaco founded Sexteto Milonguero, a six-member tango orchestra that became one of the most successful live ensembles on the Argentine and international tango scene. The group completed three Latin American tours and twelve European tours across more than 30 countries, plus performances in Canada, the United States, China, and Singapore, before disbanding in 2020. Di Ciriaco’s tenor voice ranges confidently from impressive highs to dark lows, and he has composed original works recorded alongside traditional tango classics. In 2016–2017, he released his first solo album, “Íntimo,” featuring tango, Argentine folklore, and pop selections.
Sources note: Birth year (1973) confirmed consistently across German Wikipedia and multiple sources. Sexteto Milonguero’s disbandment in 2020 is reported in source material about the group’s farewell.
