Héctor Juncal

Also known as: Héctor Tizón, Hector Juncal

Biography

Héctor Juncal (1919–unknown), Argentine tango singer born October 30, 1919, in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires. Juncal was a vocalist active during the classic tango era, primarily recording in 1946. He performed with two of Argentine tango’s most respected orchestras: the Orquesta Típica Pedro Laurenz and Feliciano Brunelli’s Orquesta Característica, recording tangos, porro, and rumba numbers. His documented recordings include the tango standards “Piedad” (September 30, 1946) and “Gracias” (1946) with Pedro Laurenz, and “El caimán” (February 25, 1946) with Brunelli’s ensemble. Despite his professional recording career and collaborations with major orchestras of the period, comprehensive biographical documentation remains scarce. His exact date of death has not been recorded in available sources.

Sources note: Sources provide conflicting dates for some recordings: “Gracias” appears with copyright/recording dates ranging from 1925 to 1946 across different databases. “Lili Marlene (spanisch)” is marked as ℗ 1945 in MusicBrainz but precise recording date is uncertain. The composer attribution for “Gracias” varies (Elías Randal vs. Carlos Bahr in different sources for music vs. lyrics).
