Biography

Pablo Lozano (12 December 1925 – 29 December 1992) was an Argentine tango vocalist known for his beautiful voice and refined interpretive technique. Born in Buenos Aires, Lozano began his career as a child performer on Radio Mitre at age ten. His professional recording career spanned from 1945 to 1956, during which he collaborated with some of tango’s most prominent orchestras of the golden age.

Lozano recorded with Edgardo Donato’s orchestra in 1945, including the tangos “Barrio tranquilo” (composed by Arturo Gallucci) and “La de los ojos tristes” (composed by Donato). He later worked with Alfredo Gobbi’s orchestra, recording “Muchachos yo tengo un tango” (composed by Natty Paredes) in May 1948 for RCA-Victor. In 1947, he performed with Antonio Ríos’s quartet at the Marzotto confitería. His final notable recording came in 1956 with Aníbal Troilo’s orchestra: “Viejo baldío” (composed by Roberto Grela, lyrics by Víctor Lamanna). Lozano’s career declined after the mid-1950s due to personal difficulties, including alcoholism. He died in Buenos Aires at age 67.
