Oscar Peralta

Biography

Oscar Peralta was an Argentine tango vocalist active in the mid-1950s. He was primarily known for his vocal performances with the Edgardo Donato orchestra on Radio El Mundo, Buenos Aires, where he recorded approximately ten tango songs between December 1955 and August 1957. His most notable recordings include “Desorientado” (1955), “Historia de un amor” (1956), “Doble Condena” (1956), and “Levantate y Anda.” His recordings were released on the Pampa record label through the MAI master series. While limited biographical information survives, Peralta’s work exemplifies the later period of Edgardo Donato’s orchestra, when the ensemble maintained selective recording and broadcast activities. His contributions to tango vocal tradition, though modest in scope compared to earlier golden-age singers, represent an important part of the genre’s documented recordings from the 1950s.
