Trío Hugo Díaz

Also known as: Hugo Díaz Trio, Trio Hugo Diaz

About

Trío Hugo Díaz is a classical Argentine tango ensemble led by Uruguayan bandoneonist Hugo Díaz, born 1947 in Montevideo. The trio features Hugo Díaz on bandoneon, Miguel Angel Ledesma on piano, and Horacio Cabarcos on double bass. Díaz studied tango and classical bandoneon with professors Charlos Belozo and Maestro Marino Rivero, developing mastery of the demanding technique of playing the bellows from both opening and closing positions, an accomplishment shared by only a select few bandoneonists worldwide. The ensemble performed regularly for Uruguayan Television and has concertized throughout Latin America and Europe, becoming recognized for their refined interpretations of classical Argentine tango compositions from the 1920s–1940s era. The trio’s approach emphasizes full, rich sound production and nuanced dynamics while respecting the musical integrity of the canonical tango repertoire, presenting works by seminal composers including Francisco de Caro, Eduardo Arolas, Julio De Caro, and Astor Piazzolla.
