Tangopianissimo

Also known as: Cuarteto Tangopianissimo, Quinteto Tangopianissimo

About

Tangopianissimo is a contemporary Argentine tango ensemble founded in 2014 in Hamburg, Germany. The cuarteto comprises pianist Fernando Bruguera (Argentina), bandoneonist Christian Gerber (Germany), violinist Amadeo Espina (Argentina), and bassist Rodolfo Paccapelo (Argentina). The ensemble occasionally performs in a quintet configuration adding guitarist Diego Romero. Specializing in the golden age orchestral tango of the 1930s and 1940s as well as concert tango nuevo of Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Salgán, Tangopianissimo recreates the fullness and energy of the typical orchestras (orquestas típicas) within a minimal instrumental format. Based in Fintel, Lower Saxony, the ensemble has been active in the European tango scene, performing at tango venues and festivals across Germany and beyond, honoring both the historic traditions and modernist innovations of Argentine tango.
