About

Tango Sonos is an Italian tango ensemble founded in 2006 by brothers Antonio Ippolito (bandoneon) and Nicola Ippolito (pianoforte) from Bernalda, Basilicata. The duo expanded into various formations, ranging from duet to quartet or quintet, incorporating additional musicians such as Alessio Menegolli (double bass) and Simone Rossetti Bazzaro (violin). Since 2015, Tango Sonos has served as the official orchestra of the internationally renowned Tango x 2 company, directed by world-famous dancer Miguel Angel Zotto, with whom they have performed in concert seasons and tango festivals throughout Europe. The ensemble is known for its classical arrangements of canonical tango repertoire, original compositions, and creative fusion projects. Notable collaborations include performances with dancers Miguel Angel Zotto & Daiana Guspero and Sebastian Arce & Mariana Montes. In 2021, Tango Sonos released “Tango all’Opera” with Russian violist Anna Serova, featuring innovative arrangements by conductor Roberto Molinelli that merge Italian opera with Argentine tango tradition, representing a significant contribution to contemporary tango’s artistic evolution.
