Orquesta Típica Fervor de Buenos Aires

Also known as: Fervor de Buenos Aires, Orquesta Fervor de Buenos Aires

About

Orquesta Típica Fervor de Buenos Aires was founded in March 2003 by pianist and conductor Javier Arias during a period of renewed interest in traditional tango orchestras among young musicians. Operating for five years (2003–2008), it gained distinction as the only contemporary orchestra to systematically continue the stylistic line of Carlos Di Sarli, the legendary “Señor del Tango.” The ensemble featured bandoneón players Eugenio Soria, Javier Giangualani, and Emiliano Bomfiglio; violinists including Ernesto Gómez, Esteban Carbonella, Carlos Castro, and Damián González Fuentes; bassist Mariano Bustos; and vocalist Diego Di Martino. Fervor released one studio album, “Quién Sos” (2006), comprising thirteen tracks blending Di Sarli classics with original compositions, and earned recognition as the last orchestra to accompany the celebrated singer Oscar Ferrari. Between 2007 and 2008, the group undertook extensive European tours through Scotland, Greece, Spain, and Austria. Following an internal crisis in mid-2008, the orchestra dissolved; half of its members subsequently formed Orquesta Típica Misteriosa Buenos Aires, which evolved the group’s musical vision toward broader contemporary tango arrangements.

Sources note: Minor date variation: Last.fm lists the album “Quién Sos” as released June 25, 2012, while all other sources (Discogs, blogs, interviews) consistently cite 2006 as the recording and original release year. The 2012 date likely represents a re-release or reissue on digital streaming platforms.
