Lita Morales

Biography

Lita Morales was an Argentine tango singer active from 1937 to 1956, best known for her work with Edgardo Donato’s orchestra between 1939 and 1941. She was one of the first female vocalists to perform regularly in a major tango orchestra during an era when women were rarely featured in such ensembles. Married to fellow vocalist Horacio Lagos, Morales recorded numerous tangos alongside vals, paso doble, and other genres that remain popular in milongas today. Her notable recordings with Donato’s orchestra include “Sin Sabor,” “Mi Serenata,” “Carnaval de Mi Barrio,” and “Sinfonía de Arrabal,” many featuring co-vocalist Romeo Gavioli. She later recorded as a soloist with orchestras led by Francisco Lomuto, Orquesta Típica Victor, and Vieri Fidanzini into the 1950s. Despite her contributions to Argentine tango, biographical details remain sparse; her real name, exact birth and death dates, and other personal information remain undocumented.
