Biography

Diego “Dipi” Kvitko (born 1975, Buenos Aires) is a tango guitarist, composer, arranger, and educator central to contemporary Argentine tango. A graduate of the School of Popular Music in Avellaneda, he studied under Aníbal Arias, a master guitarist and member of Aníbal Troilo’s legendary quartet, participating in his ensemble for over a decade. Kvitko’s artistic approach emphasizes aesthetic vindication and creative innovation without disregarding tradition, responding to what he describes as a creative vocation “always ready to overcome conformism.” He has collaborated extensively with prominent tango musicians including Walter “Chino” Laborde, Daniel Melingo, Peteco Carabajal, Hugo Rivas, Pablo Greco, and Sandra Luna, among many others. His discography spans from “Danza Maligna” (2002) through the long-running “Tango Tango” collaboration series with Laborde and the contemporary “Qué Grrrande” solo albums (2020–2024). Beyond performance, Kvitko authored “Kliber. Método moderno de guitarra,” a pedagogical work presenting modern guitar methods for Argentine popular music traditions. His recordings and teaching reflect a synthesis of traditional tango with contemporary sensibility and pedagogical innovation.
