Magdalena Valdez and Roberto Zuccarino
Biography
Magdalena’s dance training began at the National School of Dance, launching a career that would take her through some of the most celebrated tango productions on the circuit — Tango Fire, Tangox2, Forever Tango, Solo Tango, and Tango Libertad — along with stage runs at Esquina Carlos Gardel and Tango Porteño.
Roberto’s path to tango wasn’t a straight line. He first found his footing on the dance floor at age 10, moving through salsa, rock, and bachata before tango entered the picture five years later. Once it did, there was no turning back — he committed himself fully to the art form.
The pair joined forces as dance partners in 2011, quickly becoming fixtures at Buenos Aires’s most storied milongas, including Sunderland, Salón Canning, and La Baldosa. As members of the “Tango Viaje al Sentimiento” company, they took the stage at major theaters across Brazil, and in 2012 they carried their partnership across the Atlantic for a full year of touring — teaching workshops and performing in milongas throughout Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Spain. Roberto also built his own company, “Tango Más Tango,” and went on to found the “Argentina Tango Salón Festival,” one of the country’s most attended tango events.
Their run as a dance couple lasted roughly a decade before they went their separate ways on the dance floor, around 2020–2021. Both have since moved on to new partnerships: Roberto started to perform and teach alongside Virginia Pandolfi, while Magdalena has paired up with Sebastián Jiménez.
Despite the change in partners, both remain deeply active in the Buenos Aires tango scene — teaching, performing, and, in Roberto’s case, continuing to run his festival and organize local milongas.
